Thinking About: Woolrich Woolen Mills Chambray Raglan Shirt

I'm on the prowl for a spring chambray.  I'm liking this Woolrich one at $185.

Sea Washed Denim Follow-up

A few weeks ago I mentioned my sea water rinse plan.  Here are a few pictures showing how it went.  My previous post on Naked and Famous might give you a good idea of how the jeans looked a couple months ago.  Chris decided to join me as well.
Before.  Decided to try giving a pair of yellow vans a fade as well.
Before 2.
Sliding

Swimming
Sanding
Yellow
Rinsing
Tanning

Final 1.
Final 2.

We noticed a huge difference in the fading and were very happy with the outcome.

Pickup: L.L. Bean 6'' Bean Boots

Just in time for the slush of spring, these L.L. Bean 6'' Bean Boots arrived in the mail. I remember having a pair of duck boots when I was a little child that I would wear out to play in the backyard when it was raining. Now, 15 years later, I have another pair to do the same with. The boots were originally developed for "tromping around the backwoods of Maine" and as such feature a rubber bottom and a comfortable leather upper. They are still handmade in Maine and you can get them resoled later on if need be. L.L. Bean Signature released a waxed canvas version recently but I went for these for a more classic look. I plan on taking them on a test hike this weekend, along with wearing them around the city as the recent warm weather has melted the snow into a city-wide puddle. Be sure to check out Sartorially Inclined's project on the boots, appropriately named The Bean Boot Project.

On a side note, I tried to grab this vintage pair off eBay while I was waiting for the 6''s to come in but was outbid unfortunately. I think the vibram sole is pretty cool. There is another pair on eBay at the moment but the shipping to Canada is just too much.

Eddie Bauer and The Economist

I've always found shirt jackets deceptive: they manage to be far warmer than they look. I recently picked up a wool one by Eddie Bauer that is definitely on par. It looks great, it's versatile, and very warm.

Also, thanks to a birthday present from a good friend, I now have a subscription to The Economist. Something that I've been wanting to get for a long time.

Dooney & Bourke Boat Shoes

Etsy can be a great resource for gifts as well as clothing. For example, I grabbed my girlfriend a pair of these Dooney & Bourke for Valentine's day as she is a fan of their vintage purses ( also on Etsy). Whether you're in need of some bowties or some fabric, Etsy probably has what you need.

Sperry Canvas Boat Shoes

Boat shoes seem to be everywhere nowadays and I've gone through periods of wanting a pair and then not wanting a pair and back and forth. While browsing the Eddie Bauer catalogue at home yesterday I caught a glimpse of these salt-washed canvas Sperry boat shoes. I had been drawn the leather Sperry's before but these look rather interesting to me and I'll have to check them out the next time I'm at Eddie Bauer.
