Getting Suited for Mexico #2: Sea Water Rinse

In the summer I came across an interesting idea when reading up on APC denim. All pairs of APC jeans come with a list of different "recipes" for denim washing. The recipe that caught my eye is called the "seawater rinse": Let your jeans get dirty for as long as possible, go swimming in the ocean wearing your jeans, rub your jeans with dry sand, and repeat several times, rinse in fresh (not salt) water and let dry in the sun. I've decided to try this out while in Mexico as I am yet to wash my Naked and Famous jeans after purchasing them in the summer. Although my jeans will only have been worn regularly (5-6 times a week) for about 4 months come reading week, I figured this would be one of my few opportunities to give them a soak in the ocean. Canadian Sweater Company

Time for some more Canadian content. A few posts ago I included a Canadian Sweater Company sweater in the Warm Winter Attire post. Canadian Sweater Company has been knitting sweaters on Vancouver Island since 1977 and continue to pump out good looking products. Every sweater is 100 percent hand knit with 100 percent natural fibers. The weather is getting colder again now so these will add a much appreciated layer of warmth and you'll look mighty good wearing one. The prices are high but they are hand knit and made in Canada so you're paying for quality. You can pick them up from Oi Polloi & Canadian Sweater Company's website. 

Getting Suited for Mexico #1: Boat Shoes

I try and stay away from off-season purchases for the most part.  However, since Chris and I have a trip planned to Mexico with a few friends in reading week, I thought it would be a good idea to pick up a few summer items that I need.  My first purchase leading up to Mexico was a pair of Sperry boat shoes.  I'll continue to post further updates of me getting suited for Cancun.

Attire: Inspired by Pokemon

I was watching Pokemon while eating breakfast yesterday (that's normal right?). One of the secondary characters was killing it in an outfit that pretty much looked exactly like this. Red varsity jacket, pastel orange button up, grey slacks and some sneakers. While this might not be appropriate for the weather right now, come spring/summer expect to see me wearing something similar to this.

Thinking About: Mr Fox's Pajamas

There was a lot a talk about the outfits in Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr Fox. Most people mentioned the brown double-breasted corduroy suit that Mr Fox dons, but what really captured my eye was the set of pjs that he wore. Growing up, I always got a pair of flannel pants for Christmas which I paired up with a tee-shirt of varying sorts for my bedtime attire. Mr Fox's just seem so much nicer. Great red and yellow tones along with the red piping. I'm officially off to sniff out a pair of more classic pajamas.

Attire: Warm Winter Weekend

The weather has been unseasonably warm here the past week or so and it's supposed to continue this weekend. Its not cold enough for a winter coat during the day, so a chunky knit sweater will work. The ground is a mess, with slush everywhere, making everything muddy and duck boots are perfect for this. School isn't too busy yet so grab a coffee, relax, then go play outside.
