Pickup: National Anthem Sailor Shirt

I've mentioned National Anthem before and now that Inventory is stocking a few of their pieces I was able to get my hands on the Sailor Shirt. It's based on the classic breton shirt but rather than a wider cut boat neck it has a crew neck. The medium weight cotton will work nicely for the summer months and I look forward to tossing it on with some nantucket reds and boat shoes.

Stationery: Rite in the Rain

After reading the Black Cover review on these Rite in the Rain ideas I decided to try some out as the idea is great. Having a notebook that can withstand all the water you throw at it is a trusty thing in my books. They come in great colours, include a handy ruler as well as a conversion table. There are solid horizontal lines along with dotted vertical lines. As soon as these came in I tossed them in the rain barrel outside to test them out and they passed with flying colours. I also got a Rite in the Rain pen that will write in all conditions.

Pickup: L.L. Bean Signature Casco Bay Boat Shoes

Up until now I had never owned a pair of boat shoes. I opted for these over Sperry's mostly because of how the leather looked and after seeing them in person I can vouch that the leather looks great. I wore them yesterday and they were very comfortable. However, near the end of the day some pressure points started to bother me, but I'm sure after breaking them in some more this will go away. They have a hand-sewn upper and well a a 3/4 leather sock lining.

Pickup: North Face Mule Slippers

Last month I was reading an interview with Okabe Fumihiko, which highlighted some of his outdoor gear, when I first spotted these camouflage North Face slippers. Usually, when I go out backpacking I just toss in some flip-flops for walking around camp but they don't work very well when you're wearing socks. These will do the job much better as they easily slip on, have a soft, grippy sole and provide a surprising amount of support. The water-resistant ripstop nylon upper is made from recycled bottles and they're filled with goose down for insulation. They also come with a lanyard for hanging them off your backpack.

Pick Up: Woolrich Woolen Mills Cargos

I recently ordered a pair of Woolrich Woolen Mills cargos from a seller online and initially, I had my fingers crossed hoping that they would fit the way I wanted. While cargos can often fit a little loose, I wanted a more tapered pair. I'm happy to say that I got exactly what I wanted: perfect fit from the waist down, comfortable, quality stitching, nice buttons, and a really really sweet looking taped seam. This could be my best purchase in a while.

Wilderness Wear Merino Fleece Socks

While the weather might be warming up (not really in Edmonton) most people probably aren't thinking about socks anymore. Nevertheless I've got these Wilderness Wear merino fleece socks on my mind right now.The brand was founded in 1989 and all their products are made in Australia. While I would probably use the socks for hiking, snowboarding, and lounging around, Wilderness Wear are also suppliers to the Australian Army. The Merino Fleece socks come in a thicker and thinner version in all sorts of great colours.

Pickup: Scala Bucket Hat

Not everyone is a fan of the bucket hat (including my girlfriend), but I'll toss it on when its raining or I'm going fishing or backpacking. It's made from a water-resistant fabric and for $20 it won't break the bank.

Attire: Spring Fishing

Sassafras pants, Uniqlo socks, L.L. Bean mocs

Pickup: Sassafras Sprayer Pants

If you read this blog then you probably know that I have admired the Japanese brand Sassafras from afar as they are only available in Japan. However, I now am the happy owner of my first Sassafras item and I must say my admiration has only grown. These Sprayer Pants arrived last week only a week after ordering them from Japan. Sprayer pants are Sassafras' chino-styled pant with more of a tapered fit than their other offerings. They also feature a triple-stitched inseam as well as an inseam gusset which I have never seen before. Don't mind the mud in the pictures, I was just out fishing before these pictures were taken and I got a little dirty.
