Pick Up: Ralph Lauren Quilted Down Coat

Living in Edmonton, I'm always on the lookout for outerwear that can survive the siberian-esque winters. My most recent acquisition was a Ralph Lauren quilted down coat with a detachable shearling collar. The coat also has a detachable hood, adding to its versatility. Other details include a throat latch and ribbed cuffs attached to the inner lining. Since buying it, I've worn it almost every day and have nothing but good things to say about the coat.

Thinking About: Dress Shirts

     Now that I am starting a more professional degree at school I'm starting to think I need more than one dress shirt in my closet. The only one that I do have I mentioned here, and while nice, not all the measurements were quite correct so it is a little tight in the chest and loose around the neck. Some of the details that I am looking for start with a solid light blue fabric. I have quite pale skin, being red headed and all, so I think light blue will look better than the stark contrast of white. As for the type of weave, I'm thinking a broadcloth, poplin, or twill. A slim fit but not skinny. A higher medium-spread collar for my long neck and skinny face. Barrel cuffs as they are more versatile. Mother of pearl buttons would also be nice.
     Realistically I will have to try some shirts on before I make any judgement and tailoring will probably also be necessary to achieve a better fit. Here are some I am looking at at the moment. Once I figure out my proper neck size and sleeve length, something I should have done a long time ago, ordering shirts online will become much easier. I will also consider another online made-to-measure attempt. I will post my findings here as they happen.

Thinking About: Canoe Mocs

After coming back from Mexico I've got spring on my mind more than ever. Another kind of footwear that I am missing in my arsenal is the canoe moccasin. These would be ideal for kicking it around the camp site or just walking about town. I'm not really sure if there is a difference between a canoe moc and a camp moc so if anyone knows feel free to let me know. Here are a few options.

Attire: Inspired by Pokemon

I was watching Pokemon while eating breakfast yesterday (that's normal right?). One of the secondary characters was killing it in an outfit that pretty much looked exactly like this. Red varsity jacket, pastel orange button up, grey slacks and some sneakers. While this might not be appropriate for the weather right now, come spring/summer expect to see me wearing something similar to this.
