Attire: Snowy October

After having a very warm start to the fall it has finally cooled down in Edmonton. There's already snow on the ground and the temperature is just below the zero mark. Once it gets a little colder a warmer jacket will need to be pulled out of the closet but until then a shirt jacket and a down vest will do just fine.

Pickup: Leather Laces and $20 Selvedge Denim

I did manage to find some leather laces last weekend at the shoe repair store and while I was at the mall I stopped by Gap and found this pair of denim in the sale section for $20. While I'm not a huge fan of the wash, I figured for $20 I could find something to do in them. This morning I tossed the leather laces on my Thorogoods although I'm not sure they will fit with the hooks.

Pick Up: Club Monaco Turtleneck

Generally, Club Monaco is pretty hit or miss.  However, they have sorted my wardrobe out with a few decent items in the past.  I came across this turtle neck the other day and really liked what i saw.  Stripes can look great with a variety of outfits and the fabric is quite thin so i could see myself giving it some wear into the spring season.  

Here's an outfit that I wore saturday night with the turtleneck.  Includes a BDG corduroy blazer, Gap down vest, Modern Amusement slacks, vintage belt, and Clarks desert boots

Update: Cargo Pants

The bad news is that the ACL shop doesn't carry my waist size in the Mark McNairy Cargo pants.  The good news is that I wont be spending $260 dollars on a pair of cargo pants.  So I'm back on the hunt, and here are some options I'm considering.

Layering and Levi's

I've been looking for a suitable denim jacket for about a month now. I wasn't interested in anything too dark and didn't want to give in to the features that just don't belong on a denim jacket: any zippers, the overly distressed denim, the obscure fading, the endless number of pockets. I just needed something classic. A nice light denim with brown stitching and a good fit. What better way to do classic than Levi's. My search came to an end today and here's what I picked up. I thought I'd put together an outfit with the jacket.

Also, I personally think that layering in the winter time can be the key to a great outfit. More specifically, Chris and I have really been liking the look of wearing multiple button ups this winter. If you get the right fabric and colour combination with multiple shirts, it can really look smart. The outfit below includes a combination that I personally like and I figured it would work well the denim jacket. The outfit includes Levi's denim jacket, Levi's 510 brown jeans, American Apparel black and white gingham button down underneath a thicker yellow O'hanlon Mills button up, black Cole Haan wingtips and GAP ribbed tuque.
